The City of West Jordan has a variety of opportunities where volunteers can use their talents and time on behalf of our community. We have committees, events, boards and commissions in need of volunteers as well as ongoing projects suitable for youth groups and Eagle Scouts.
Current Volunteer Needs Sign-up Sheet
Note: Because of liability issues, the city does not provide court-ordered service opportunities.
The City's volunteer needs fall under two categories: civic volunteers and community/group volunteers
Civic volunteers are formal City volunteers under the scope of the City, a City employee, or elected official (these volunteers have completed a volunteer application (below) and been notified of acceptance by the City). These parties represent the City and are covered by the City's Workman’s Comp if injured while performing official volunteer service within the course and scope of their defined duties. Examples include: West Jordan Fire Department, City Committees, West Jordan Police Department, Events, etc. (Utah State Statute 67-20-3) http://statutes.laws.com/utah/title-67/chapter-20/67-20-3
Volunteers can serve on various West Jordan Committees, including the Arts Council, Budget Committee, Western Stampede Committee, Healthy West Jordan Committee and many more. Please visit the Committee page for details.
Fire Department Volunteers
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), Prevention (Adopt A Hydrant), and Ready West Jordan.
Police Department Volunteers
Citizen Police Academy, Volunteers in Police Service, and Neighborhood Watch.
Events Department Volunteers
The City has a variety of events throughout the year that rely on volunteers to bring them to life. These events range from a three-day Independence Day Festival to a half-day park beautification project and everything in between. Join our volunteer Event Team to be part of the fun.
Civic Volunteer Application (Fill out and email, mail or fax to the information below to be considered for Civic Volunteer opportunities. Please fill out all fields. Incomplete forms may be denied.)
Community/Group volunteers are NOT under the scope and the control of the City, a City employee, or elected official. These parties do NOT represent the City and are not covered under the City's Workman’s Comp. Examples include: Boys Scouts, Church Groups, etc.
