All impounded animals are taken to the West Jordan Animal Shelter located at 5982 W. New Bingham Hwy. Shelter hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Impounded livestock are taken to the West Jordan Rodeo Arena, 8035 S. 2200 West. Arrangements for pick up of livestock are to be made with a shelter representative. To obtain information on all impounded animals, visit the West Jordan Animal Shelter or call (801) 282-3951.
If your animal was picked up by an Animal Control Officer or brought to the shelter as a stray, a $30.00 impound fee must be paid before the animal can be redeemed. Second impounds of the same animal will result in a $40.00 impound fee. If the animal is at the shelter for longer than 24 hours, an additional $6.00 (per calendar day) must be paid for boarding expenses. All dogs and cats will be subject to licensing requirements before they are released. Livestock impound fees are $60.00 for large livestock (horses, cattle, large swine), $40.00 for small livestock (goats, sheep, small swine) and $10.00 (per calendar day) boarding fees.
If your lost animal is not located at the West Jordan Animal Shelter, contact should be made with adjacent shelters.

If your lost animal is still not located, contact should be made with as many neighbors as possible. Make up a flyer to distribute to friends, neighbors, local grocery stores, and all shelters you visit. An ad in the local paper should also be considered.
