Reduced Pressure Principle Assembly
 | Reduced Pressure Principle Assemblys (RP) protect against backpressure and backsiphonage of pollutants and contaminants. This backflow prevention assembly is used to protect against high-hazard contaminants and is the only approved assembly when applying fertilizers and chemicals via the irrigation system, or when using a secondary water system with the culinary water system in the irrigation system. | | Click on Image for Larger view | | The RP should be installed as follows: - The assembly is not to be installed in a pit or in a location where any part of the assembly could become submerged in standing water.
- The assembly is to be installed a minimum of 12 inches above grade.
- Install in an accessible location for servicing and inspection "which is to be done yearly by a state certified tester."
- Protect the assembly from freezing by properly installing it in a utility box or shelter and draining it in the winter months when the system is not in use.
