Gusty winds delay flag unfurling at West Jordan Sugar Factory silos

(West Jordan, UT) — Gusty winds have delayed the posting of two 30-foot-by-60-foot flags from the West Jordan Sugar Factory silos, 8035 S. 2200 West. The event has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. The flags will hang off the silos in preparation for Saturday’s “Patriot Day Military Tattoo.”  Weather permitting, members of the West Jordan police and fire departments will rappel down the 180-foot silos to help hang the flags.

(West Jordan, UT) — City officials are partnering with state, military and ecclesiastical leaders to present a traditional Memorial Day Tribute May 31 at 1 p.m. at the Military Services Monument in Veterans Memorial Park, 1985 W. 7800 South. The ceremony honors America’s fallen heroes and pays tribute to the five Utahns who have died during the past 12 months in service to the nation.

(West Jordan, UT) – After the West Jordan Building Official tagged the Sugar Factory Playhouse “unsafe” Monday, March 15, cast and crew of the upcoming “See How They Run” feared it was “curtains” for the production, slated to open this Thursday. Fortunately, Suzanne Walker and the Midvale Arts Council have graciously allowed the West Jordan Theater Arts to bring the show to the Midvale Performing Arts Center, 695 W. 7720 South in the old Midvale City Hall.

(West Jordan, UT) – After a March 12 report from BHB Engineers found major structural deficiencies, including unreinforced masonry walls, an inadequately reinforced ceiling and “high life safety hazards,” the City of West Jordan Building Official had no choice but to close the doors of the Sugar Factory Playhouse, 8201 S. 2200 West.

West Jordan's 'Weigh Biggest Losers' contest kicks off tonight
